EDINBURGH

Ended up in Edinburgh yesterday. Got a small private guide tour by Anna. Which really helped and was great for me. Otherwise I would have got lost.
Edinburgh really is a GORGEOUS city! I really loved it! Everyone should at least once spend a day or two there. Is so worth it.
I started wondering between different second hand shops and bought myself 3 books for a price of £2. So worth it. I actually bought a book that I've been wanting for a while. I was holding it in the bookstore in Lund the day before I left thinking about buying it. Very happy I didn't 'cause now I got it for 50p.
After the second hand stores I found The Elephant House - you know where J.K.Rowling wrote the first Harry Potter book. It was a lot of people in there. I think it would have been nicer if there would be less people than it was. But it was after all a saturday. I at least got a red cup from there with a an elephant on and underneath it says The Elephant House and on the back it says Birthplace of Harry Potter. Really cool cup, I like it a lot!
Then I wandered around a bit went fast into H&M to get me some socks and tights and then met up with Anna by the Scots Monument. A very facinating monument!
We went to eat at Henderson. O my what a fantastic place!! I haven't eaten anywhere else but that place is definitely on my top one and it's going to be HARD to top it! They had a lot of vegetarian food as well as a lot of cakes. It was gorgeous.
Then we went to Waterstones, bought some books and then headed home both happy with the day.

If I ever are to study at college/university I'll definitely consider Edinburgh! Without any doubt! Just loved everything about it. And I know a few other people who would love it too..

I didn't bring my camera so I'll give you pictures next time instead.

MAJ LUNDGREN

HJÄRTAT FORTSÄTTER ATT SLÅ
This book is written by a swedish author only 13 years old. I bought it in the most lovely bookstore in Söderköping. To bad I probably won't go there again, but I do hope I'll end up there sometimes in the future. The book it's very small, just around 150 pages - if I remember right - and it's as big as my hand. So very small and you'll finish it in about 30-40 minutes. It's such a sweet story about two teenagers finding each other for support among betrayals and losing people close to you.

TO TREAT YOURSELF

I've been thinking a lot about the meaning of "treating yourself" lately. It pops up everywhere today. I think the word, treat, is being abused. Like, you've been regularly exercising lately and eating healthy so just one night you're going to "treat" yourself with a small piece of cake, chocolate or a glas of wine. But what happends next day? You punish yourself for it and make yourself exercise harder. How is that a treat? Not saying everyone does it but there's a lot of people out there that actually do.

I use the word treat a lot, but not exactly like everyone else use it. I use it to everything that I do that makes me happy and I DO NOT punish myself the next day for it! I like to live my life not hold it back. You do only live once!
I believe you have to treat yourself everyday with life. This particularly day is never coming back. Ever. It is and forever will be GONE. Will you remember when your older that you eat chocolate that one night? Or that you slept in that morning that you'd planned to start the day at 6 am? No! If you for some reason do you have a memory like an elephant, you have two options, 1. You're unice 2. You're an actual elephant. So, you either eat, sleep, live your life and do what makes you HAPPY for that day (that IS to treat yourself) or you keep on treating yourlself (with the society's meaning of the word) and there is a chance you will end up remembering the day as a not to good day.

Go for what makes you happy.
If you get happy by losing weight, go for it. Just don't let that be the only source of happiness that turns into a disease.
If you get happy by eating, go for it. Food is not a "treat" it's a treat.
If you get happy by having the evenings free, go for it. Plan your day so you can drop everthing in the evening.
If you get happy by eating chocolate when you have your period, go for it. Chocolate is actually good for you while having your period. Don't believe me? Google it!
If you get happy by taking a glas of wine by the end of the day, go for it. Just don't get a drinking problem.
If you get happy by eating a snicker for snack, go for it. You won't die.
If you get happy by quiting your job, go for it. You weren't happy when you were there anyway.
If you get happy by traveling, go for it. Save money and just travel wherever you want. You don't always need that much money to go somewhere.
If you get happy by singing, go for it. (You don't have to become famous to be able to sing.)
If you get happy by having a busy day, go for it. Stuff you're calender with things.

Treat youself with life and things that makes you happy.
You'll be so much happier if you plan after things that makes you smile.

JOHN GREEN

AN ABUNDANCE OF KATHERINES

Okay so I'm not going to write my own thoughts on this one 'cause I found someone describing it very well - here.

Is based around Colin: a child prodigy and a wannabe genius, who only seems to want to date girls named Katherine. However, each Katherine he has ever dated has dumped him, or so he believes. Heartbroken by being dumped by K-19 (Katherine number 19), his best friend Hassan plans a road trip which will change Colin's whole outlook on love, relationships and life.

In this book, I really liked how Colin's first intentions for going on a road trip was for him to find his 'Eureka moment' which would prove to people that he really was a true genius. But as the story progressed he started to change and become a better person. He began to realize that the world wasn't revolved around him and he had to be there for the people who cared about him, even if it meant being stung by a swarm of hornets to protect Hassan. Finally, what I loved most was that at the end when Colin learned he didn't need a Katherine or theory to be happy.

Although I thought it had a great plot, it would not be very appealing to someone who gets confused with the simplest equations in Mathematics as the novel does include a rather complicated theorem which is to show how long a relationship will last. Luckily if you really wanted you could skip them out, but to me it makes it more realistic.

Overall I really enjoyed the book because it was like I was having a life lesson! Colin's theory would only reveal the past and it could not show the future, so we learn that we don't know who we will become, as the future is unpredictable and we are always changing.

JUST A LIST

  • I have seen kids walk around in shorts since the day I got here. And let me just say it's been FREEZING outside sometimes and they still walk around in them? Insane kids. I've been covered in layers and layers of clothes and still been cold. But now with the spring breeze coming in and it actually beeing warm outside - been feeling like taking my coat off both yesterday and today.

  • Spring is around the corner! It will probably become cold again but the snowdrops are in full blossom everywhere! And more flowers are on the way. Yay!

  • I don't think I've told you guys that I have a duvet here! OMG I LOVE IT! I sleep like a baby.

  • I'm falling more and more in love with the hills and scenerys around here. It's beautiful!

  • I'm happy to say that I'm not at all homesick yet. Last year it started the first week and never really left for a few months. I was completely down for a loooong time. You know about that one Sofia, haha. I'm prepared it will come on day but I'm just really enjoying myself not beeing crashed. It definitely helps that I've done this before! I'm more confident in myself.

  • I've bought 5 books since I got here. Oupsie.. Well I've read 2 of them and loved both so I have my hopes up for the next three. The one I started on yesterday is Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. I'm pretty sure they have made that one into a movie and it's supposed to be really good. But I'm definitely reading the book first.

  • I've been drinking insanely much tea since I've got here and realized what a small bladder I actually have. Haha!

  • Beeing here makes me miss my friends from the State. It's weird doing this without them around.

J. COURTNEY SULLIVAN

COMMENCEMENT

I bought this book at a second hand store in Söderköping. Got it for like 5 kr if I'm not mistaking. Since it was only 5 kr I don't regret buying it. But it was sadly not for me. I had to force myself to finish it (allthough I did skip huge parts in it). I don't have to read it ofc but I kind of like knowing that I have read the whole book anyway, or tried reading the whole book. It was just not for me. I barely remember anything in the book either and I read in between nov-dec last year. So it's not long ago at all. But well, well. Not every book is for you.

LOVE THIS TOWN

Today I went to the church. Got picked up by someone from the church. Still can't get over how welcoming they are there. Really like it. Got invited to a welcome party next sunday evening. That will be nice. After the church today I went for a stroll around the town. Not the whole town but part of it. I love all the small alleys everywhere and the open scenerys you find wherever you go. It just amazing. Imagine it beeing like on the picture everywhere. I would say it's like a mini-Lund.

Can't believe it's already sunday. So tomorrow it's back to work for a few days.
(Btw started reading Billy & Me again and I can't put it down. So happy I brought it!)
